I'm back -- tomorrow

Okay. Inlaws are doing fine now, and I'm back to doing my paintings a day. I'll post my first one tomorrow, which I'll paint today, so I'll always be one day behind in posting. So good to be back!

Okay, right after I started my yearly one-a-day commitment, my mother- and father-in-law both became ill, and I have had to temporarily move in with them to help them out. So the commitment has to be started again. I'll set myself a start date of November 1, 2007, by which time I think things will be back to normal.

Shetland Sheepdog, 'Sheltie"

Today is Thursday, October 11, 2007. Here's a sheltie I painted last night and this morning; it's acrylics on hardwood, approximately 5x6.5.
I'm still trying to get away from as much detail as I have in this one. The first painting in my blog, though almost cartoon-y, is more where I want to go with my painting. Well, we'll see where I am in a month, a few months, six months, a year . . . There's so very much to learn . . .

I may have to miss posting for a few days because my father-in-law is ill, and I have to go spend time with him and my mother-in-law to help out. I'm taking my paints with me but probably won't be able to post my paintings until I come home. But if at all possible, and I think it is possible, I will continue to create my little daily paintings, even if I can't post them on successive days.

My First Official Daily Painting

Today is October 9, 2007. I've heard that this daily painting exercise is good for one's success as an artist. Here's my first step . . .

This French bulldog painting is sized approximately 5 x 6.5" on gessoed hardboard with rounded corners (not shown). To buy this or any of my paintings, go to http://www.dottiedracos.com/ and click on the Originals Page. $35 USD, plus $3.50 USPS first-class shipping within the USA. Outside the USA, please contact me for a shipping quote.

These usually small paintings are something I'm going to be doing daily (weekends might be a problem, but I'll give it my best) aside from my ongoing paintings.

My website has a complete listing of all my prints, clocks, originals -- and every few months a group of my very, very popular "wild wild things," my ceramic dog and cat mask sculptures. Fair warning, if you're interested in them, they go within two to three days of my listing them. My website is http://www.dottiedracos.com/ or http://www.wildwildthings.com/
