This is a painting I just finished late last night. Her name is Magnolia, Maggie for short, and she lives in Jackson Hole, WY. A customer gave me several photos of her to paint as I wished. Of course, she's so beautiful and unusual that I won't be able to stop with just one rendition of her. But here's my first. Now, back to all those commissions that I'm supposed to be working on!!! As usual, she's for sale on my website, http://www.wildwildthings.com/, and also, as usual of late, she's painted on 8x10x1.5" hardboard, with the sides being recessed black. SOLD

I really do intend to paint something besides dogs -- one of these days! For the time being, though, this is what I am known for among my customers and what - for now -- I do best. This little dog was painted a few days ago and I think came out quite well. It's an 8x10 on hardboard, with 1.5" recessed black sides, and sells for $100.00.

This is another Havanese pup whose image I received within days of the first one I did. This little girl was just a baby when the reference photo for this painting was taken. The painting is on 8x8x1.5" gallery-wrapped canvas and sells for $100.00. As usual, it's available on my website, www.dottiedracos.com

A grizzly bear painting. I decided I needed a bit of a dog break, so here's a wildlife painting I did. Look closely; he appears at first to be sleeping, but he's really watching you! It's acrylic on heavyweight 8.5x11" paper and comes matted in an 8x10-opening 11x14" mat, enclosed in a clear acetate resealable sleeve. $75.00

I tried to be a bit looser with this painting than I was with the previous two days' ones. It feels better. Again, this rhodesian ridgeback painting is 8x10 gessoed hardboard, with 1.5" recessed black sides. The price is $75.00.

Another dog painting. Seeing a pattern yet? This is, once again, a dog painting, a very beautiful little red dachshund hound that I painted. Obviously, I love dogs and love painting them. This painting is acrylic on 8.5x11" heavy cardstock paper and is matted in an 11x14 mat, ready for framing. The price is $75, plus shipping, and is available, as usual, on my website, www.dottiedracos.com.

This is a great dog I just painted; his name is Morty. I don't know what breed he is, maybe part lab?, but I think he's beautiful. He's listed on my Originals page on my website, he's painted on hardboard, 5x6.5x1.5", and sells for $45.00, plus shipping.

The "new" first day is here. It's so great to be back!
I finished this painting last night, and I'm very pleased with it. It's a painting of a blue tick coon hound, my very own Molly, with whom I shared many loving, though exasperating years. As is evident in her haughty pose, Molly was definitely "better than you," and she never for a moment let you forget it. I think her personality was more cat-like than dog. I adopted her while attending a local outdoor art show, where a dog-adoption organization had a public-service booth. She was found along the highway by a selfless volunteer whose entire life and income was spent rescuing and rehabilitating homeless dogs and cats. When found, one of her back legs was literally dangling behind her (she had been shot), and she appeared to be a walking skeleton (I saw photos of her when she was first found). A volunteer vet removed her leg and foster parents got her into physical shape. Her previous owner was located, a hunter, who claimed not to know how she was shot; I don't know if charges were ever filed against him, but they ought to have been. Perhaps from who knows what sort of awful experiences she had had in her short life (she was thought to be between one and two years old when I adopted her), perhaps because of her hound breed, she never did fully bond with me or any other human -- or anything for that matter. She was always aloof, distant, haughty, oh-so-beautiful, naughty (she ate I don't know how many shoes), and completely lovable. Even after several years of being without her, we miss her terribly but are also so glad to have been able to be a part of her life.
I present you: Molly. 8x10" on gessoed 1/8" thick hardboard, with black recessed 1.5" sides. $150.00, plus shipping costs, as usual available for purchase at my website, http://www.dottiedracos.com/, on the originals page.
