I Feel UPS was Very Deceptive in a Recent Online Transaction

Okay, I'm sounding really old now:  What has this world come to???  I Feel UPS was Very Deceptive in a Recent Online Transaction - Honestly, I feel Ripped-Off!

As I've mentioned before, I still do work for a couple of longtime galleries, to which I send each a couple of fairly large orders a year.  This has been ongoing for the past around 25+ years, ever since I started selling to galleries in the late 1990's.  For shipping, I have always, always, used the UPS carrier service and have been overall satisfied with their services. And I have ALWAYS!!! used the ground-shipping option, which is by far the least expensive.

Further, I always create my shipping labels online; and in the past couple of years, I've noticed that, oddly, when I get to the payment section, the default choice is "next day air," (see screen shot below, cropped to hide personal information) which is BY FAR the second-most expensive, and around over 5 times the least expensive ground rate.  In fact, my costs are usually around $180 for around 3 boxes.  This time, I was in a hurry to get the boxes to the UPS store and missed checking the "ground" option rather than the DEFAULT "next-day air."  In my opinion, a 3-times greater price should NOT BE THE DEFAULT choice!!!  (You can tell I'm still very obviously furious and feel horribly cheated.)

It had been a few days since I had last checked my bank account, which I like to do every so often, just in case these days; so I opened the account and saw the $1000-plus withdrawal immediately.  It didn't even register to me what I was seeing; I was really confused.

I started by going online, which was useless to me probably because I've never encountered a problem like this.  After several AI attempts, I got an agent, who did what she could, nothing, and sent me to another agent, who did what she could, which was to kindly tell me I was screwed -- but that I could dispute the charge..... which I did, online, filling out a form which said IF my dispute was approved, I would get credit for the overcharge for future use.  That was it, no timeline, no "receipt" for my dispute submission, nothing.  So I'm left in limbo.

Well, recently I've been thinking very seriously about dropping all gallery/wholesale accounts because it's more stressful than just making what I like to make at a leisurely pace.  I don't need much money and have no grand wishes or  expectations anymore of getting rich.  (There's more to life, etc., etc. than great amounts of money.)  So I want a refund for the difference between the two services.

I also have the invoice that I sent to the customer, which clearly shows that I thought I had paid for ground shipment.  I feel that UPS owes me around 800 (deducting what I thought I paid and what they charged me).

I'm mentioning all this because I feel ripped off, I'm angry, and I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I did.  I absolutely am not asking for any suggestions or help.  I'll figure out what to do and how to do it, and I think I can at least get the "credit" to my account, which means also that I'm going to have to sell to galleries for much longer than I had planned.  So my advice is ALWAYS, ALWAYS be sure you're ordering what you intend to.

(By the way, I've also noticed on Etsy that they often make a higher shipping cost the default, but I use that service often and rarely, not always, catch it.  When I don't change it in time, I cancel the order and start over with the correct rate.
